Artist Statement:
I was born in the Galveston County—not far from the coast. Hurricanes are not an uncommon occurrence. Recently, it seems more powerful storms are hitting the shores more frequently. I have seen my community completely torn apart and washed away by strong winds and flooding waters. I have seen my community ban together to rebuild, only to be knocked down again next hurricane season. In this piece, I present the viewer with the swirling, violent destruction that hurricanes cause. If nothing is done about our climate, severely destructive storms will only continue to tear us down.
